Author Q&A
WOULD YOU RATHER…
Have the ability to see into the future or be able to visit the past?
I’d like to visit the past for sure. Relatives who’ve passed away–I want to see them again and talk about things we never got around to discussing. My grandmother’s experiences during the Mexican Revolution would be near the top of my list. I’d also have a long, long conversation with my Dad. He was the wisest person I’ve ever known. There’s so much going on in the world, and he was so good at talking things over so that I could make better sense of life’s complications and uncertainties.
Have the ability to move things with your mind or read minds?
I’d rather move things with my mind (how about the sofa so I can sweep under there?). I don’t want to know what people are thinking–that could be dangerous and, perhaps, depressing.
Sing or dance to your favourite song for the rest of your life?
I LOVE singing AND dancing. I was in a band for a couple of years as a vocalist, so maybe singing to my favorite song? I’m a ballad singer, primarily, and I love karaoke. Gah! I’d want to dance, too. Most likely to something funky from back in the day. This girl can swing her hips when there’s a good beat!
Have money or power?
Power doesn’t interest me. Money’s nice, but I’m not obsessed with it.
Have an endless summer or winter?
Summers in the Pacific Northwest are glorious. If you haven’t been to this corner of the country between June and August, you should make the trek out here. There are endless things to do, especially outdoors. Summer, for sure. In winter, it gets dark by 4:30 pm!
Tea or coffee?
Coffee with cream and sugar–I have a terrible sweet tooth.
Movie or book?
Oh goodness, please don’t make me pick.
Morning person or night owl?
I used to be a night owl, but lately, I’m waking up and popping out of bed early. Not sure why my body clock is flipping on me. Is it a middle-age thing?
Paperback or eBook?
Paperback, most definitely. I like the feel of it in my hands.

PS: Knowing that many of Julia’s experiences were my own, you might wonder how my son turned out. Well, as Mary Poppins might say, he’s practically perfect in every way. I’m not biased or anything!
